Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.
We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our classes, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life…

Rob Lewis
Lead Instructor & Owner
Founding instructor Rob has over 30 years of experience in Martial Arts, self-defence, working with children & adults and has spent many years delivering various courses across the country for specialist clients. A fully qualified fitness instructor he delivers classes to all ages and abilities sharing his passion for Karate and Martial Arts. Rob has had the opportunity to learn from many incredible instructors over the years and still travels the world to increase his knowledge, he also has the privilege of being a personal student of Eleni Labiri-Suzuki.
Eleni Labiri Suzuki
Chief Instructor Suzuki Ha Karate-Do
Eleni Labiri Suzuki is the wife of the late Japanese Karate Master Tatsuo Suzuki and the Chief Instructor of Suzuki Ha Karate-Do. Eleni started karate in May 1984, and for 25 years was her husband’s personal student and training partner. Together they travelled the world delivering seminars to the thousands until his death in 2011. This has resulted in Sensei Eleni having unparalleled insight into the detailed technical teachings of Suzuki Sensei, one of the most prolific Japanese Instructors to leave Japan. Sam Lewis
Instructor & School Manager
Sam began her Karate journey after the birth of her youngest son Brandon so she could join in classes with her eldest son Rhys. Sam has been very fortunate to receive her tuition and gradings direct from Eleni Labiri Suzuki and practices at home on a regular basis with Rob Lewis. Alongside her existing full time job Sam plays a huge role in the administration of the school and during classes provides excellent guidance to all the students, with her own unique ideas on how to remember what is being taught during class.
Rhys
Junior Assistant Instructor
‘The one who started it all’ When Rhys first showed an interest in Karate we couldn’t find any traditional Wado karate classes in our local area… Eleni Sensei encouraged us to start our own, without him, Lincoln Karate School may never have started. Rhys has grown up training alongside his dad (Rob Lewis) under the watchful eye of Eleni Sensei and now helps teach in several classes.
Sadie
Instructor
Sadie isn’t new to Karate in fact she first started at an early age and achieved her Shodan (Black) in Shotokan Karate as a teenager. After a brief hiatus she decided to make a return to Karate and fortunately for us decided to study Wado-Ryu with Lincoln Karate School. Adopting the mindset Shoshin (beginners mind) she once again wore the White belt and has worked extremely hard over the years to be just one step away from her 2nd Black belt. You will often find Sadie in our Family Classes alongside her two young daughters who are now following in their mums’ footsteps.
John
Instructor
John is the student who will happily travel 90 mins each way just to get to class, will go out of his way to help others and never stops working from the second he walks in. With an extensive history of working with young people in various settings, John has an amazing knowledge and skill set that will make him an excellent instructor. Working on the instructor training programme you will often find John on a Monday evening teaching students.
Malcolm
Instructor
Malcolm joined us with his family a few years ago and has hit the ground running from day one. As a beginner he won a gold medal in his first ever competition and has excelled at all his gradings since. Working with local Primary Schools he already possesses many of the skills required to keep students of all levels engaged and learning and is a welcome addition to our instructor programme. You will often find Malcom teaching during the beginners’ classes on a Saturday morning.
Carrie
Instructor
Alongside Malcolm is his Wife Carrie, she may have got Silver to his Gold in their first competition, but she has been fighting back ever since and her work ethic during class and in gradings has been exceptional from the start. Another welcome addition to our instructor training programme, Carrie offers a unique ability with the younger children (some call it a mummy’s gift) and is a brilliant addition to the team.
Polly
Instructor
Polly is one of our original students who first started Karate to encourage her daughter Neve during class and we are proud that they both continue their Karate years later. Polly has worked incredibly hard to learn the syllabus and has a great understanding of the challenges new starters can face. Polly is currently enrolled on our instructor programme alongside her own Karate development and therefore you will often see her in class helping others.
Jamie
Junior Assistant Instructor
Jamie joined us with his brother Owen after previously training with another group and hasn’t looked back since. Years later he’s not only developed into an excellent student but also regularly assists in our beginners’ classes growing in confidence every week. We are looking forward to watching Jamie grow even further and plan to support him and his brother as much as possible in their development both as students and instructors.
Owen

Wherever Jamie is his brother Owen is normally right alongside him, in fact when they first started, they looked so alike we thought they were twins. Thankfully these days they’re a little easier to tell apart. Competitive as anything and always determined to be better than his brother, Owen’s work ethic in class is one of the best you will see. He also has a remarkable ability to engage with our youngest students and we couldn’t be happier having him and his brother helping teach in our classes. Keep an eye on these two brothers, we have big expectations for their future…
Robert
Junior Assistant Instructor
One of the latest additions to the team and an absolute pleasure to have in class supporting the next generation. Robert hasn’t been with us for long, but he has worked extremely hard to achieve several belts in such a short period of time and earning Student of the Year in 2022. Robert is building in confidence every day and is already leading small groups on his own with fantastic results.
